elementary applications are developed for an “out of the box” user experience. The elementary design philosophy puts strong emphasis that each software application is consistent with other applications with an intuitive design permitting users to instinctively know how to use it with out instructions or additional configuration.
Third party software applications (not developed or supported by elementary) may provide you with additional functionality (not included in some elementary “out of the box” applications) to enable you to complete a specific task.
While they may work correctly on your elementary computer it is important to understand they do not follow the same design principles the elementary project puts strong emphasis on. Therefore they will probably look and behave differently from elementary applications. For the ultimate elementary experience elementarynow suggest you explore the capabilities and limitations of elementary applications before installing any 3rd party software application as may meet your requirements.

It is not a definitive list (there are other alternatives), however our tutorials have been tried and tested by our community members. If you do proceed to install them the risk is minimal, however the risk is yours. You should also avoid tutorials from less reputable sources.
